Science and Engineering Challenge Day

Wednesday, 3 May, students from Avoca State School participated in Bundaberg's first Science and Engineering Challenge at CQ University. Many schools were involved in the competition and Avoca came back as the winner. The schools were split into eight coloured groups who participated in two challenges throughout the day. Each group did different challenges that tested their science and engineering abilities. Challenges included "Minipult", "Mars Buggy", "Light Comms", "Electropolis", "Build It", "Get a Grip", just to name a few. These challenges involved children making a bionic arm, communicating by light, creating a catapult and building a buggy that could carry a load through a bumpy terrain. All these activities gained points to each school's total, and by the end of the day, the school with the most points would take home the prizes. Avoca won overall! It was a great day for all students from all schools.
