Teachers in all classrooms at Avoca State School, whether they are single year level or multiple year levels in organisation, focus strongly on differentiating learning for students. Teachers modify the learning content, process, product and environment in a variety of ways to cater for the particular learning needs of their students. Classes at Avoca State School are organised in a stage structure to allow us to develop curriculum more effectively in teams:
Junior stage (generally Prep to Year 2)
Middle stage (generally Years 3 and 4)
Senior stage (generally Years 5 and 6)
All students from Prep to Year 6 engage fully with the Australian Curriculum in the areas of English, Mathematics, Science, and HASS. Other Key Learning Areas of The Arts, Health and Physical Education, and Technologies are also taught to all year levels. German is the language taught to students in Years 5 and 6. Students can expect to spend part of each day engaged in core reading, writing and mathematics lessons as well as challenging and interesting units of work.
