At Avoca State School we have a proud tradition of excellence in music. Each year in Term 4 students from Years 3-6 have the opportunity to audition for the schools' Instrumental Music Program. Students then have access to instruments on a hire basis for their first year of lessons, or they can choose to use/buy their own instruments. Students receive specialist music lessons in Strings or Brass, Woodwind and Percussion each week and are eligible to participate in numerous Instrumental Music Workshops, festivals and competitions held in the Bundaberg area throughout the year.
Instrumental Music Fees for 2025 are as follows:
- Music levy of $20 per student which is passed on to the Bundaberg and District Music Library and covers costs towards the purchase of new music, workshop expenses such as buses, conductors and venues. Note this is an extra-curricular fee and not an SRS fee.
- School levy of $20 per student and this covers costs of the general upkeep of school equipment such as music stands.
- School Instrument Hire of $25 per student which covers repairs to and upkeep of instruments.
